ACADEMICS

Voyager Academy is a K-2 school, with plans for advancing grades in the near future.

Reading & Writing at Voyager Academy

Writing comes to life through hands-on tools like special writing paper, easels, light boards, and whiteboards—giving students many ways to practice and express their ideas. Along the way, children learn through games and interactive activities that build strong reading skills while also encouraging confidence, collaboration, and social growth.

Mathematics at Voyager Academy

Math at Voyager Academy is hands-on, engaging, and designed to make sense to young learners. We believe children learn math best by doing, so lessons include songs, games, movement, and plenty of hands-on materials they can touch, build, and explore.

Through gentle repetition, pattern recognition, and real-world problem-solving, students build strong math skills and confidence while developing a deep understanding of numbers that truly sticks.

Learning happens both indoors and outdoors, with curriculum designed to reinforce skills through hands-on experiences in our Outdoor Learning Centers.

Outdoor Centers

Discovery Yard – Our play yard encompasses several learning zones, including the Builder’s Zone, Water Movement & Fluid Dynamics, Geometry & Spatial Pathways, and the Sorting, Classification & Data Garden.  The zones are designed to develop foundational skills such as spatial reasoning, directionality, symmetry, problem solving, early algebraic thinking, balance, weight, estimation & cause-and-effect reasoning – all in a fun, playful atmosphere.

The Canopy – The wooded canopy, with treehouses and a hammock hide-away, offers a whimsical outdoor learning space for students to connect with nature, explore, engage in imaginative play and practice reflection.

The Reading Treehouses offer a peaceful outdoor space where students can relax, listen to teacher-led stories, and gather in small reading circles. During story time, children explore ideas that naturally connect to science and social studies, sparking curiosity, questions, and meaningful conversations.

Small-group reading circles encourage children to share thoughts, practice listening and speaking skills, and grow as confident readers—all while enjoying the calm, engaging atmosphere of the outdoors, which enhances focus, connection, and learning.
